Admiral Peary was born in Washington Township

Esther McCabe, of Lilly, was Nationally recognized as War Mother, with 11 sons, who served in the armed forces, during WW II, and her son-in-law, also served then.

Three Lilly natives were killed, on the evening of April 05, 1924, when the Ku Klux Klan, came to town.

A Marine Corps glider landed on the Lassak Farm, in 1943.  It broke loose, while being pulled.  It was guarded, by the pilots, and “snatched” by another plane, days later.

Sylvester Welsh, surveyor for the Allegheny Portage Railroad, started surveying for the railroad, at Portage & Grant Streets, in Lilly.
