Genealogy
Members of the L-WHS are working to establish a genealogical base at the Museum for those who want to compile family histories. LWHS also offers in-house educational programs and workshops.
Family Trees/Histories
LWHS would like to acquire a copy of any family trees or histories of area families - complete or in progress - by donation or on loan to copy. We would be happy to pay for the forwarding and return postage and handling. Can you help? (Link to form)
Obituary Archives
Locally Born and Area residents, who have passed away. A useful tool for genealogical studies.
Help Us Add To Our Genealogical Database
To facilitate the process of compiling your family tree, LWHS has prepared a series of forms that may be printed off (link) or mailed to you. (link)
Please do NOT think that every form - or every section of every form - must be completed. You need to fill-in ONLY the information that pertains to your family. The forms are a guide to assist you in organizing your information. We ask that you keep a copy of the completed forms to serve as a basis for compiling your family history and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, forward a copy of the completed forms to the LWHS so that your family information can be added to the Society's Genealogical Database.
We suggest that the forms be completed (where possible) with the oldest person (75+ years old) in the family tree being designated "The Interviewee." Even if the designated person is recently deceased - as long as the data is available - using the oldest person will give us the broadest coverage on the single set of forms. Thank you for your time and assistance in providing the LWHS this genealogical information for its database.
