As we bring the celebration of Our Bicentennial Year to a close, there are a number of events and dates that you should mark down on your calendar now - and begin making plans to participate in them all.

 

Speaking of your calendar –

The 2007 L-WHS Calendars are now in and feature a couple dozen colored photos on the back cover that review the events of 2006. Each member of the L-WHS may buy one calendar at $2.00. Additional calendars are $4.00 each.

Calendars may be ordered by sending a check made out to L-WHS and sent to L-WHS c/o First National Bank of Lilly, 500 Main Street, Lilly PA 15938. Please add $1.50 per calendar for postage and handling.

 

Schedule an Old Fashioned Trolley Ride (about 40 minutes long) to view the Christmas Decorations of the area -Wednesday Evening, December 27, 2006. A limited number of tickets (Adult-$5. and Children under 18 years of age -$2.) are available at Gall’s Insurance Main Street Lilly. Sign up is necessary for specific scheduled trips. Rides will begin and end at the Lilly Borough Building where light refreshments will be served to the riders.

  

Enter the Bicentennial Snowman Contest- Entrant must be a resident of the Lilly Area (15938 Area Code). Winners to be determined by vote on photos at the Bicentennial Wrap Party – February 3, 2007.First Prize - $100.00 Second Prize $50.00 Third Prize $25.00 Fourth Prize $25.00 (Listed Prizes awarded if at least 12 Entries) Contest will run from December 1, 2006 through January 31, 2007.

 - Contest Rules and Registration Forms are available at Gall’s Insurance Main Street or may be downloaded from our web site: www.l-whs.com. $2.00 Registration Fee for each snowman entered (enter as many as you wish) - Payable on registration at Gall’s Insurance or make check payable to Bicentennial Fund and send check with Registration Form to Bicentennial Fund c/o First National Bank- Lilly, PA 15938.

 - PHOTOS OF THE SNOWMEN WILL BE DISPLAYED at the Cresson Fire Hall the Evening of the Wrap Party where the attendees will cast their votes. PHOTOS MUST BE TAKEN BY A BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE MEMBER.

 - Register Early, and when your snowman is completed schedule photo to be taken any time during December 2006 and January 2007 by calling 886-4694 – (Photographer will attempt to come to the site of the snowman within 48 hours of the call – extreme weather conditions may require that transportation for photographer be arranged by the entrant.)

 

RULES:

- Entrant must be a resident of the Lilly Area (15938 Area Code)

- Entrant may be an individual – a family – a group – an organization (e.g. Girl Scouts)

- Single Snow “man” for each entry (figure of your choice) – no groups of figures

- Type of Snow “figure” unlimited - Originality is Chief Criteria

- Size – at least 4 foot tall or wide – 3 dimensional figure

- At least 60% of figure is to be visible snow (not covered by clothing etc.) crafted on site

(no prefabricated, purchased, or crafted forms allowed)

-  Snow may be colored

 

Attend the gala Bicentennial Wrap Party - We had planned to hold a nice little dinner dance to acknowledge and thank those who had worked so hard to organize the bicentennial events. However, when we started to list the names of all the helpers - rather than coming up with a few dozen names - we found instead that a good percentage of the population had been involved in some way in bringing-off Our gala bicentennial year.  So we decided to have a party for the whole town. Here is the tentative schedule:

 - Time: 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Saturday February 3, 2007 - Place: Cresson Fire Hall

 - Agenda: Minimum formal program–only Major Sponsors will be formally acknowledged

Power Point Presentation  (THE YEAR THAT WAS-2006) GOOD MUSIC, FUN FOOD, BUFFET, BEER, WINE COOLER, COFFEE, and SOFT DRINKS

 - There will be at least one shuttle bus available.

- Who is invited: All members of the Lilly Washington Historical Society - All residents (and

extended family members) of the 15938 Area Code - All former residents (and extended family

members) of the 15938 Area Code

Tickets: There are 400 tickets available -Tickets may be picked up at Gall’s Insurance Agency-Main Street-Lilly PA or ordered from L-WHS Tickets – c/o First National Bank of Lilly – Lilly PA 15938. - (Check should be made payable to L-WHS Tickets.) FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED

 - Cost: Tickets will be: $5.00* each (Parents should use their discretion - children may attend but the evening’s activities are not designed for children). 

 -NOTE: In 2007 - L-WHS will establish a “THE VOLUNTEERS OF LILLY.” Monument. We would like to allow all those from the Lilly Area to help fund this monument.  *All proceeds from the ticket sales will be applied toward the cost of the Monument.
