STIMULIS PAYMENT

The letter from the IRS states that those on Social Security who do not file income tax reports must do so for 2007 to receive the $300 rebate. Form 1040 and 1040A are still available at the Lilly and Summerhill Post Offices. This must be filed by April 15th. Let your elderly family members and friends know about this and even give them a hand if they can’t do it themselves. Call me if you have questions, maybe I can help.

LEGION ESSAY CONTEST

Lilly and Washington Township seniors and those from other areas whose parent or grandparent belong as a post member at Lilly are reminded about the essay contest being conducted by Post 628.A 1000 and 2000 dollar scholarship will be awarded this year for the topic: What Will The Privilege Of Voting Mean To Me. Deadline is April 30th and the 300 word essay must be delivered to the Lilly Legion Post.

SYMPATHIES

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of John “Yunk” Yarnish who recently passed away. Yunk was well known in town and was a WW2 veteran. He will be missed by many.

Sympathy is also extended to the family and friends of Robert “Wolfman” Doyle who also recently passed away. He was the son of Vera Doyle and was raised in Lilly.

ROBINS

Jan Nadolsky told me he saw a robin in his yard on March 6th and brother Pat told me he saw a flock of robins on the 9th so they are definitely returning. Maybe the cold weather is coming to an end.

ST. PATRICKS DAY

Monday, March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day and as usual I will wear something green in honor of my Cassidy ancestors. Uncle Harold Cassidy always drank green beer to celebrate so his passing on in December adds a little sorrow to the occasion. He would want everyone to celebrate.

BIRTHDAYS

March 14th will find Frank Sibis and Mason McCarthy celebrating their birthdays as will Josephine George, Lola Leap and Vic Paul Jr. on the 15th.Also on the 15th Greta Hurley will observe her 40th birthday, her husband John and children Sarah, Jacob and Calib will make sure it’s a happy time. Then on the 16th Megan Filak, Amy McCarty and Brendan Muldoon celebrate.

On Saint Patricks Day Carol Paul, Joseph Batdorf, Patrick Erzal, Nellie Leap, Mary Lesko, Brett McLendon, Allura Nesbella, Brett Reffner and Shawn Stevens all celebrate. On the 18th Shirley Bowman, Emily Steberger and Frank Wyland enjoy birthdays as will Danielle Dunmyer, Catherine Serre and Vanessa Kuisick on the19th.

EASTER

Next Sunday March 23rd we celebrate Easter. This is the first time since 1916 that it has been this early in the year and this will not occur for over 100 more years so enjoy it. I will run a community church schedule next week.
