If you turned 65 during 2007 or became a widow or widower or disabled permanently you may qualify for the property tax rebate available in Pennsylvania from lottery proceeds. Those who received past rebates should have received a booklet from the state by now.

RETIREMENT CALENDAR

Each year I receive many nice calendars mostly in the mail from various organizations and really the only one I use is the Valewood calendar the milkman leaves at the door.

I have my own simple method of keeping track of the day in the week Starting on Mondays the school bus stops out front at 7 A.M. Then on Tuesday the Valewood milkman delivers early in the morning. Wednesday nothing happens, Thursday the garbage truck goes at 8 A.M. Friday I can smell fish cooking at local restaurants and on Saturday no school bus out front. I know its Sunday when I see all the neighbors walking to church in the morning or a lot full of cars at the chapel visible out my kitchen window.

Speaking about Valewood their drivers must have taken a course in cheerful public relations. On a recent really freezing morning a young driver was on the delivery truck and I was amazed how cheerful he was considering how cold it was outside.

IN ENDING….
Both the Lilly Borough and Washington Township road crews have done a commendable job at keeping the roadways open during the past few months. Often I see them out very late at night or early in the morning before most of us are even out of bed. Good Job Guys.
