I started to watch the Super Bowl mainly to see what ads would be on but as the game progressed I rallied heartily for the New York Giants and it was a great game to say the least.
Speaking of the various commercials, I surely think the writers and designers smoke something a lot stronger than cigarettes. I did like the Coca Cola Ad however with the parade balloons and the Budweiser ad with the horse training to pull the beer wagon
POWER OUTAGE
The two hour power outage on Saturday was a good lesson on how dependant we are on electricity. No TV, no computer, no lights and no heat. My two son’s, Steve and John and granddaughters Tasja and Desiree sat around the kitchen and living room burning candles and telling stories. The granddaughters actually considered it fun.
It made me realize how tough it must have been for the early pioneers each winter as they relied on a fireplace and candles all winter long. We talk about cabin fever, for them it had to be so much worse.
SYMPATHY
The deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of David Motel and James Segada who both recently passed away. Jim and Dave were both 1962 graduates of Lilly High School. Jim had attended Riley grade school and Dave attended St. Brigid’s.
BIRTHDAYS
Today, the 7th, finds Kenneth Behe, Donald George, Theresa George, Gary Nadolsky Jr. and John Prebish celebrating birthdays as will Loena George on the 8th. Then on the 9th it will be Vera Doyle, Doris Erzal, Paul Erzal. Derrick Legros and Jason McIntosh’s turn to party.
The 10th will be a day for cake and ice cream for Megan Croyle, Tyler George, Anna Mae Giblock, Jacob Stevens and Samantha Stevens. On the 11th George Puglise and Joann Courtot celebrate as does Regina Skura on the 12th.
ANNIVERSARIES
Tom and Audrey Craine observe their wedding anniversary on the 8th as will both Jim and Emilie Arnold and John & Kathleen Hooder on the 11th. Michael and Debbie McCarthy celebrate on the 12th. Happy Anniversary to All.
Legion weatherman Jim Steberger had predicted not much snow this winter and he has been on target, Even though there has been snow it hasn’t been that deep to make getting about difficult. Not so in Illinois were my sister Maureen lives. They have had a brutal winter but luckily she and Dave headed for Aruba.
As for the cold. Steve Hammond has been on target. Although it never went below zero anything under 32 degrees makes me unhappy.
