I received an e-mail from a Texas reader, Carolyn Blake, who was recently in Lilly to visit her mother. She said she just wanted to let me know what a “jewel” of a store we have with Deluca’s Market. She praised its menu and the social atmosphere there.

HUMMING BIRDS

Jones Street must be a lot warmer than Dundee as the little hummingbirds have been visiting Shirley Patterson’s back yard feeders since April 21st while my brother Pat was still watching for their return in Dutchtown on the 28th. Shirley takes her feeders in each night as a bear and raccoons make frequent stops otherwise. She gave me a tip on keeping ant’s from the feeders. “Coat the hanger with cooking oil”.

GIN GEE

Anthony “ Gin Gee” Ritz has been under the weather most of the winter with most of his time spent in the hospitals and rehab. He is home now and friends say he really enjoys receiving cards. So let’s cheer him up by sending him a card at 509 North Street, Lilly, PA. 15938.

The community’s sympathy is extended to the family of Elizabeth Saloney who recently passed away. The life long Lilly resident lived for 96 years and raised a large family along with her husband Michael on Main Street. .Elizabeth was one of the oldest living members of a graduating class from Lilly High School.

Gilbert Krumenaker also was 96 and also recently passed away. ‘Gibby” was a retired U.S. Army Sergeant who operated a Christmas tree farm in Dutchtown. In later years he was active with the Senior Citizens.
