CHERRY BLOSSOMS
Spring is way ahead of us in Washington D.C. Paul and Kelly Sklodowski visited there on April the 5th and enjoyed seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom as they cruised by boat from Alexandria, VA. to Georgetown. They also got a quick tour by bus of the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Washington Monument and the WW2 Memorial. Paul was very impressed by the size and beauty of the WW2 site.
SEABEES
Island 6 of the Seabees met at the Lilly Legion on Saturday, April 13th. The group’s commander, Richard Sweeney, of Lilly, introduced Marty Kuhar, a retired Army Colonel, who spoke on the Johnstown Veterans Initiative that has an office at the Hiram Andrews Center. Mr. Kuhar pointed out that the office provides resume writing service for veterans and helps with job seeking for both veterans and their families. All veterans are welcome to use the service.
Sweeney then introduced Nancy Tibalsky, the director of the Cambria County Veterans Bureau at the Courthouse in Ebensburg. She spoke on the many services her office can render to military veterans and their widows and widowers. Any veteran or survivor of a veteran is welcome to call her office at 472-1590 Mondays through Fridays from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M.

HELP A GRANDMOTHER
If you are computer savvy your help is requested by going on line and signing a petition for Betty Green, a Cresson Township resident who is involved in a court battle in Maryland to gain visitation rights to her 6 year old grandson Hunter.
Betty had a warm, close relationship with her grandson who often stayed at her home and even had his own personal bedroom there. The boys father, Betty’s son, Ron Latterner died in a tragic accident at work last fall and since that time the child’s mother has refused to allow Betty to see Hunter.
We all know how special grandchildren are so please go on line and sign the petition that can be accessed at www.petitiononline.com/GrandBtg/petition.html or www.myspace.com/inmemoryofronlatterner. Thank you
